::Movies Will Survive::

When movies were just starting off and they were getting their foothold in peoples lives they used many different tactics and new technology to continue to surprise and impress. Some of these tactics were widescreen, 3-D, color, and drive-ins.

The use of widescreen really went viral as it enhances video quality and gives you more of the picture. Some examples of this are cinemascope and cinerama.

Cinerama is taken from a panarama kind of view.

3-D really hit the ground running with its high performace technology. Until then nothing like 3-D has ever been invented. It was a brand new thing and the people loved it.

Drive-Ins were started in 1933 but in 1940s is when it took off with 100 drive-ins. The number soon rocketed through the roof with more than 2000 drive-in theaters in the 50's. They were a crave and not only a theater but a culture.

::Movies Begin to Talk::

Until now movies have been in black and white and with no talking. After the huge leap to install both plug-ins the movie industry has been continuing to improve and becoming more and more popular. When all this new stuff were just coming out there were 3 main genres, musical, gangster, and horror.

The movie industry also came out with a double feature. What this means is that they would have a big name movie then a 'b-movie'. A 'b-movie' is a feature film with a lower budget and not as popular. They did this to get the audience to grow because they were now getting two movie for the price of one.

This also gave some stars a place to start and finish their acting career. Warner Baxter and Richard Dix finished off there career staring in 'b-movies'. Both of these men were Oscar Winners.
